It’s a girl! Announcing our 1st baby
2

God blessed us with the news of a baby girl in the middle of 2010. It brings me pleasure to share this special piece of information with you as it is the best piece of news of the year 2010.

Remembering July 2010: you’re reading a retrospect 2010 special

I know what you want to hear: that I was excited and everything. Well, at first I wasn’t. Keep reading.

When I first heard we were having a baby, I was happy of course. I was kind of sedated though. I was sort of confused. Actually for the first 2 months I didn’t know what to feel. I was like OK. Cool. I guess you can say I was still in shock. Not that it was a surprise, it was all planned for and thank God we couldn’t have picked a better place than , baby factory of the world.

Anyways, the 6 months that followed turned out to be the most interesting months in Brunei. I have grown to love my baby and grown closer to Noura through this beautiful period of pregnancy. I am now thrilled knowing with my daughter entering this world soon…the kicks and thoughts of her playing in my lap soon is all too much. I can’t wait to see her.

This is definitely, above all, the single blessing that will change my life post-2010 for the better. Here we come, 2011. Come on, daddy – reel in !

This is part 3 of a 3-part series. Read about the 3 blessings that changed my life in 2010 »

What blessings are you thankful for this year?

Vic, as soon as I decided to step foot out of America I got swooped up by an engineering force that sends people around the world to do high tech IT installations and since then I have settled in Brunei. Then I got married and now I've been in Brunei and who knew this country — whose name I initially thought referred to a place in Africa — would bear my wife and children and 3 years of my life. Each turn of the road we take in life affects us for the rest of our lives, it seems. I am very happy here but miss America and need to get back soon. We all cling to our younger days and values. I still play Xbox when I can steal away and get obsessed with child-like things, computers, soccer, etc. I'm consulting for Shell as my client in Brunei.
