Remove unwanted items in pictures like magic using Photoshop CS5

I am going to teach you a 5-minute tutorial that will help you remove unwanted elements in your photos like magic. It’s called the “content-aware” fill tool and it is available in Adobe Photoshop CS5. This is radical!

See before & after pictures below.

Notice how in the “after” shot below, we have removed the motorcycle, street sign or pole, antenna above the roof, satellite dish, and pipes in the foreground…

Difficulty: Beginner
Tutorial time: 5 minutes
Requirement: Adobe Photoshop CS5
Before (picture exactly as shot):

After (applying the content-aware tool to remove unwanted items):

OK, here’s how we do it.

1. First select the polygon lasso tool from the Tools box:

2. Then create a selection around the object you want to eliminate, i.e. this antenna:

3. After you make your selection, goto “Edit > Fill…” like this:

4. Make sure “Content-Aware” is selected and press OK:

5. Like true awesomesauce, Photoshop will remove the item you selected:

That’s it! Let me know if you benefited form this tutorial.
