God blessed us with the news of a baby girl in the middle of 2010. It brings me pleasure to share this special piece of information with you as it is the best piece of news of the year 2010.

I know what you want to hear: that I was excited and everything. Well, at first I wasn’t. Keep reading.

When I first heard we were having a baby, I was happy of course. I was kind of sedated though. I was sort of confused. Actually for the first 2 months I didn’t know what to feel. I was like OK. Cool. I guess you can say I was still in shock. Not that it was a surprise, it was all planned for and thank God we couldn’t have picked a better place than Brunei, baby factory of the world.

Anyways, the 6 months that followed turned out to be the most interesting months in Brunei. I have grown to love my baby and grown closer to Noura through this beautiful period of pregnancy. I am now thrilled knowing with my daughter entering this world soon…the kicks and thoughts of her playing in my lap soon is all too much. I can’t wait to see her.

This is definitely, above all, the single blessing that will change my life post-2010 for the better. Here we come, 2011. Come on, daddy – reel in fatherhood!

Noura’s new car: 2009 Nissan Latio

We just bought a new car for Noura. It’s her first car – a 2009 Nissan Latio Sport. It’s very vibrant, hip, and fits her personality like a charm! Alf mabrook, Noura, you’re stepping it up in life.

Honestly, I’ve never bought a brand new car in my life. It’s really high class and beats the hell out of buying an old car – I mean I know anyone can just say that but it’s a tipper when the decision is close. I was going to buy a Corolla, but we decided why the hell not…get something exciting!

Taking the oath of marriage

These are the moments I wed Noura. This is the katb-el-ktab which is before the marriage ceremony. When I heard zawwajtuka ibnatee which means “I thee wed my daughter” nothing can describe the feeling…nothing.

It’s like in 1 split second the weight of responsibility shifted from one man to another. It is him saying this is the daughter I raised all my life and poured every ounce of love into her and I just hope you can try to do the same.

It is an immense over pouring. It is a quantum leap of faith and security. This is the beginning of my life as a married man.
